May Challenge 2026 - Just Get Sewing

One A Day In May
Challenge yourself to make one Quilt As You Go (QAYG) shape a day, by the end of the month you will have completed 31quilts. I have created some lovely projects for you to do and I will be showing you some of these at the beginning of the May Challenge and sharing with you throughout the month.
To make a QAYG shape doesn't take too long (depending on which shape that you are doing and if you are making it by hand or machine?) but approx.10-20 minutes, so its not too scary. I want you to have fun and it shouldn't be stressful, so if one a day seems to much create your own daily, weekly, or monthly goal.
The challenge starts on the 1st May, and I will be posting lots of hints, tips, design ideas and more for the entire month.
The May Challenge will be focusing on the 1 3/4" Hexagon, Half Hexagon, Diamond and Jewel along with the 3 1/2" Diamond and Triangle, these all form part of the 1 3/4" template set.
If you don't have this set then you can use any of the Daisy and Grace QAYG templates but there won't be any specific project other than for the above included in the challenge.
So what do you need to get started?
Your Quilt As You Go template(s)
Fabric, a great time to raid your stash or use that fabric that's been waiting for a project.
Wadding / Batting
You will also need a cutting mat, rotary cutter (although my mum cuts hers with scissors after marking them out as she doesn’t like rotary cutting, so even a pair of scissors will do) quilting clips or pins and of course a needle and thread or your sewing machine.
Come and join us at Daisy and Grace Quilters on Facebook where we encourage and support with a great group of friends and we would love for you to share your progress and Daisy & Grace makes.
