Project Postcard - Month 1 - FPP Triangle

Welcome to the first Project Postcard, all about FPP (Foundation Paper Piecing) and it is a beginner friendly project and the best thing is that it uses scraps so if it goes wrong or you don't like it then you have only wasted scraps. But why not have a go? I have included photo's of my postcards (although I gave one away as a prize and I forgot to take a photo...) and others that have been made so far.
The link for the free down load is included along with the link to Sunday stitch up on YouTube where I show you how to make it.

Happy Sewing X

Instructions:
Draw out your stitch guide onto interlining or paper using a pen or pencil and a ruler and add the numbers into the sections.
Take your panel, choose two fabrics that will cover shape 1 and 2 with a ¼" seam allowance around the edge.
Turn your guide over and place fabric 1 right sides up so that it covers section 1 and then take fabric 2 and place right sides together onto fabric 1, Pin.
Sew the line between 1 & 2.
I tend to start one or two stitches before the line and one or two stitch after the line and I use the lock stitch on the machine, if your machine doesn't have this then I would back stitch a couple of stitches. It makes the fabric more secure when using in a quilt.
Also if you use a small stitch length on your machine it makes it easier to remove the interlining / Stitch and Tear / or copy paper.
Press open so that both fabrics cover section 1 and 2.
Trim your fabrics so that they have a ¼" seam allowance all the way around, I do this by folding the stitch lines and trimming so that I still have ¼" seam allowance. I do this on each edge, it makes it easier as you go along.
Cut another piece of fabric that is big enough to go over section 3 with ¼" seam allowance all the way around.
Place right sides together over the stitch line between section 2 & 3, pin, and stitch on the stitch line, (by trimming your fabric so that you have a
¼" seam allowance it makes it easier to position your next piece of fabric)  press open.
With right sides together join.
Continue as above using the numbers in sequence to complete the triangle.
Once complete you can always use decorative stitching to enhance the design. Cut your 6" x 4" rectangle from the fabric and make into a Postcard.
There are 2 ways you can make your postcard as well one is using the Daisy & Grace 6" x 4" QAYG Rectangle, or by putting a card backing with a traditional postcard (a postcard back is included below).
