Hexagon Nesting Bowls

My blog has been a long time coming, Daisy & Grace keeps me so busy, I wish I had a couple more days in a week...LOL. I hope it is worth the wait and hopefully you will be creating lots of your own nesting bowls.

I love useful and decorative storage so this project ticks lots of boxes, or should I say ‘Bowls’.

My nesting bowls use ‘QAYG’ Hexagons along with a Diamond or even a Triangle. I have used the 3 ½” Hexagon with the 3 ½” Diamond, the 2 ½” Hexagon with the 2 ½” Triangle and the 1 ¾” Hexagon with the 1 ¾” Diamond.

What will you need to create these?

3 ½” Bowl:

Daisy & Grace 3 ½” ‘QAYG’ Hexagon and Diamond templates

20cm x 110cm of Backing Fabric

16cm x 110cm of Main Fabric

16 cm x 110cm of Wadding

16 cm x 110cm of Fusible Caddy weight interlining

Cutting:

Cut 1 x Hexagon and 6 x Diamond outers in the Backing fabric.

Cut 1 x Hexagon and 6 x Diamond inners in Main Fabric, Wadding and Fusible interlining

Making:

Fuse the interlining to the wadding shapes.

Make up 1 x Hexagon and 6 x Diamonds as per the instructions included in your ‘QAYG’ templates.

Lay out as per diagram below and stitch, then sew the sides of the diamonds together to form the bowl.

I actually made all these boxes from the off cuts from my 3 1/2" Hexagon Circles quilt, so not only are they pretty and useful they are a great stash buster.

Happy Sewing
